What’s Your Life Track, Honey?

It’s 11:50PM.
I’m applying for a fellowship.
As with most international applications, you are asked to choose a track.
There’s Civic Participation.
Women/Gender Equality Track.
Peace and Conflict Resolution Track.
And other examples.
You are asked to choose a track, and then arrange the tracks in order of priority.
First to third. Or fifth.
Same thing applies in life. Choose your tracks.
Then prioritize them according to their importance to you.
Personality Development Is A Big One For Me.
Becoming A People Person And A Leader.
Flourishing Finances Is Another.
Multiple And Consistent Income Sources.
Career Growth And Transitioning Is Another.
I’m Well Vested In More Than One Area, So I Work On Developing Each, One After The Other.
This Demands The Wisdom Of Balance.
It Can Be Quite Stressful.
Another Path Is A Community Builder/Human Capacity Development Advocate.
You’ll Find This In My Work With Vulnerable Children And Young People.
I Want My Poetry To Make Its Way To The Ears Of The United Nations Secretary General.
As He Listens, He Knows It’s The Founder Of Street Mentors Network Speaking.
He Also Knows That She Excels Superfluously At Leadership.
I Want Madam Ibukun Awosika To Be Able To Trust My Records Enough To Recommend Me To Her Protégés For Followership.
I Want The King Of England To Invite Me As A Special Guest To Buckingham Palace To Talk About How Art Can Merge With Governance To Influence The Citizens.
I Want Yale To Invite Me For An Honorary Award For My Outstanding Life And Achievements.
I Want Oprah Winfrey And Ellen DeGeneres To Host Me And Ask Me Questions About How I navigated my way past The Insecurities Of My Disadvantages And Built My Way To The Top Of The Table.

But I Will Never Have All These If I:
Do Not Choose My Life Tracks.
Arrange Them In The Order Of Importance.
Follow Through On Each Commitment.
If You Haven’t Chose Your Tracks, Do So Now. Let Me Get Back To My Application.

Yours Always,
The Talk Queen,
Neeta Rare
